A popular dress style in the 1940's, paired with cute little heeled pumps and if the weathers not looking too great you could always add a colourful cardigan on top!

Annie Hall
Annie Hall, 1977 is an American romantic comedy starring Woody Allen & Diane Keaton. It revolves around the main protagonist Alvy Singer trying to figure out the reasons why his previous relationship ended. I have to confess, last night was the first time I have ever watched this film, and boy, have I been missing out! I love quirky, unusual films and this is a great example of that. Woody Allen is also a great actor and this film made me love him even more!
The scenery of this film is so cute, especially the backdrop of this particular scene!
Normally, I wouldn't tend to go for outfits that are quite boyish and flared, but Diane Keaton pulls it off perfectly in this film that I've been quite tempted to go treat myself to a cute little jumpsuit like hers in the photo above. Very 70's! Although the fashion is all very casual and easy going, it compliments the films themes and style.
Annie Hall won oscars in Best Director (Woody Allen), Best Actress (Diane Keaton), and Best Original Screenplay, along with Best Picture Academy Award! So give it a watch, it's a nice easy film to put on if you're feeling under the weather (looking at the weather in the UK at the moment, I can see why.)
1945
Ava Gardner, an American actress who came to fame in the year 1941 when she signed a contract with MGM Studios. Considered one of the most beautiful woman of all time, she is best known for her roles in Mogambo (1953) and the film that gave her attention The Killers (1946.)

Gangster Squad
Gangster Squad is an action crime film starring Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone. It is set in Los Angeles, 1949. Anyone who hasn't already seen this, you need to. Right now. The style, the fashion, the music, the romance are all so perfect. I tend to enjoy films more if they look pretty (silly, I know) but I did enjoy this film very much.
The men in Gangster Squad
With their trilby hats, suits and ties and their blazers or braces there is not a dull moment when it comes to how the males dress. The late 40's was a very smart time in the fashion world for the males. It was a world that concentrated on power and business. The more successful you are, the more well of you will become and this was reflected in their outfits. So want the look? Grab the smartest suit and tie you can find (preferably a neutral colour palette one), some very squeaky clean brown boots, brown coloured braces, and a trilby hat and you'll be walking the streets looking like a 'Don.'
Ryan Gosling looking dashingly handsome (I'm pretty sure he pulls of any outfit.)

The women in Gangster Squad
Pretty much just Emma Stone, but oh my, every outfit of hers is absolutely glorious that you wouldn't need another female! Her style in the film is full of glamour, sex appeal and class. With her fiery red hair and full red lips she is likely to catch the eye of every male watching. Her outfits (as shown below) represent the glitz of the 1940's perfectly. With vibrant colours like red, blue and white (now I think of it, probably meant to come across as patriotic) and the fabrics made of silk and nylon, the clothing of the decade was so elegant! To get her look, although it may be too dressy for every day wear, who says you can't treat yourself to a classy night out! A dress with a slight slit in the side of the dress is often worn to add that sex appeal that was progressing in the 1940's. Don't forget those red nails to add that extra slice of spice! And the jewellery were all about the diamonds, so bling it up! (not too much, you don't want to be looking like Mr T)
You could always casual-down your outfit, as show in the photo below. This dress is beautiful.
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone one of the most stylish duos in cinema.

Band of Gold - Freda Payne
You know that one song you over play, but unlike the others I can't seem to get sick of it. Probably one of my all time favourites, give it a listen and experience it for yourselves!

Pull of the zebra look, all the IN crowd are!
Stripes, stripes and more stripes, they were an important fashion print in the 1960's. Made popular by the mod style that dominated the 1960's, stripes were mostly loved in black and white. But were also used in a variety of different shades. For the full 60's look, a black and white striped A-line dress, knee high go go boots and bold eye makeup will allow you to travel back in time (but if you don't want to go too OTT then ditch the go go boots and add a pair of cute pumps.)
Just look at these popular faces of the 1960's, and the way they have pulled of the style!

Want eyes like Twiggy's? Get some Kissed Lashes
The 1960's were all about the eye makeup, the bigger and bolder the better! The rest of the face were clear and pale, whereas the eyes were the vocal point of the whole face. False eyelashes were almost a must to any essential makeup list if you wanted to be stylish. Twiggy was the iconic figure of big, bold eyes in the 1960's, want eyes like hers? Just read on!
After searching around for the perfect pair of false eyelashes (believe me, it's not easy) I came across eyelashes from Kissed Lashes, an online store that sells a variety of eyelashes. And 'The Flirty One' is perfect for the vibrant 60's look!
They're even easy to apply! I just removed them from the packaging, applied adhesive glue on the back and placed them on my eyelid, and voila! Definitely my number one choice now when it comes to false eyelashes. If you head on over to their website, they also do their own tutorial on how to apply eyelashes and have both Twiggy and Elizabeth Taylor celebrity style posts!
The eyelashes are only £6.99 for 5 pairs in a pack!

To get the perfect Twiggy look, these images are a great how to...
1. Use liquid eyeliner to create a half circle from one side of the eye to the other on the crease of the eyelid.
2. Then use liquid eyeliner and apply a thin line above the top eyelash.
3. After that apply your Kissed Lashes eyelashes on to the top lash.
4. Then if you're feeling very outrageous and dedicated to the 60's look, the bottom lashes were a prominent feature of Twiggy's look. Apply liquid eyeliner as shown in the bottom photo.
Just remember, if you want the perfect 60's iconic eye makeup, it's all about the big eyes!
