What time is it? Time to get a watch

Only 10 weeks till Christmas Day, can you believe it? And I've already started my Christmas list. One thing I really want this year is a lovely new watch, preferably a tan and gold wide faced one. I searched on eBay, Amazon, Swarovski, Watch Shop and many more but couldn't come across one that attracted me in any way. But then I found Olivia Burton's beautiful selection of dazzling watches. Their collection is inspired by Vintage design and bursting full of British Style. The brand began with duo Lesa Bennett and Jemma Fennings, when both students of London College of Fashion met and created this distinctive and contemporary brand. The designs are so adorable I thought I'd share them with all you lovely lot.


Big Dial White and Gold - £75
Simple yet so important. Statement watches are on the top of every fashionista's wish list. And this one is so perfect with its vintage inspired design, the white and gold contrast works perfect together.


Colour Crush Mint watch - £55
These cute little mini watches are perfect to experiment in all sorts of different colours. If the big watches are too big, then these are just for you!


Flower Show Watercolour and Tan - £75
Perfect little autumnal style watch that goes superb with the seasons trends and colours. There are a wide range of watches with a variety of butterflies, birds and autumn blooms on the face. How cute are they though!


Palour Floral Navy - £80
These exact designs were inspired by unique vintage compacts. And I really love the blue against the beautiful watch face print design. Perfect to match the floral trends that are covering the catwalks this season.


Modern Vintage Dot Design Tan and Gold - £65
My personal favourite (and what I've asked for for Christmas) I love the simplicity of this design and the mini dot design in the background of the watch face. This watch combines vintage style with modern design so I definitely have met my match!

The woman everyone knew as Coco

"Fashion fades, only style remains the same"

Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel (better known as Coco Chanel to all of you) was a French fashion designer and fonder of world famous brand 'Chanel.' 'Coco' whom apparently got her nickname from the popular song 'Ko Ko Ri Ko', was born on 19th August 1883 in France. She was born to Jeanne and Albert Chanel, being 1/6 children, however when she was twelve years old, her mother died of Bronchitis, and herself along with her brothers and sisters were either sent of to work or to a convent. She was bought up and taught to sew by Catholic nuns. When Coco was eighteen, she left the convent and went to live in a Catholic building house.

Chanel found her first employment in seamstress having learnt sewing at such a young age, and in between sewing she sang in a cabaret, which some say helped her become so confident pursuing her in to the possible business women that created her worldwide success. In 1913, Chanel opened her first boutique were she specialised in leisurewear, and also became a licenced hat maker in 1910. She introduced loose, jersey fabrics, long strings of pearls and a feminine take on sailor suits. She liberated women from the constraints of the "corsested silhouette" and universalized the acceptance of the sportive, casual women as the feminine standard. A Chanel suit of 1923 became famous for it's flattering cut and simple fabric, and the suit as well as her handbags is still seen as a vestige purchase for women.

Chanel extended beyond just couture clothing and designed jewellery, handbags and fragrance throughout the years. Her most famous, and arguably the most popular scent in the world, Chanel No 5 was introduced in 1922 and was one of the first perfumes to mix natural and artificial essences.  She also became well known for her costume jewellery, introducing the design of fake pearls to mix with real stones in the 1920's. Coco Chanel's apartment, in Paris, is now home to the ground floor shop, haute coutre workrooms in the attic and Karl Lagerfield's (who has designed Chanel since 1983) study. Chanel, being such a businessminded women, never married but had many relations throughout her life. She died on 10th January 1971 at the age of 88, in her Ritz Hotel in Paris.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior, 1905 - 1957

Christian Dior was a French fashion designer who was a major force of the 1950's transformation in the fashion world. It was the start of Dior's New Look which introduced the voluptuous silhouette shapes and the beginning of the bustier style bodices and the dresses flaring out from the waist. Dior gave woman a more feminine, curvaceous form in comparison to the boxy, stiff shape of the 1940's. Just look at the beautiful dresses he designed below and you'll soon begin to understand why he was one of the founders of the worlds top fashion houses!

Mary Quant

If I was alive in the 60's I would of definitely had a wardrobe full of Mary Quant clothing, her clothes are fantastic! Bold shift dresses are such a weakness for me. Here's a few photos I've come across of Mary Quant clothing and the models sporting them...
